plaza. The cobblestone streets, traditional wood burning ovens, children playing
on the plaza in the evening, combined with the nearby agricultural
fields of corn and the cows and sheep taken out to pasture in the morning and

ancient culture that knew how to live within their environment without
destroying it, and deserve a true exploration. Pisac, one of the best preserved
and impressive archeological sites has multiple functions, The astronomical
observatory has structures that use light and shadow to measure with exactness
the Solstices and Equinoxes; very important dates for an efficient agrarian
calendar. It is also a ceremonial center for the same cosmic moments. An entire
side of the mountain was turned into productive agrarian terraces with the best
technology of irrigation; the most advanced for their time, and still an
inspiration to develop technology in balance with environment.
The rock work is considered as some of the finest found in the Valley. Pisac is the largest pre-Columbian
burial site in the Americas. Eleven miles of mountain side are filled with
approximately 400,000 burials in the traditional way. The archeological site served for science,
ceremony and agriculture; all woven into the reality of daily life.
